Etymology: Formation in -αλ(λ)ός (Chantraine Formation 245ff., Schwyzer 483 f.) without etym. Chantr. does not dicuss the word in -αλ(λ)-ος, where the λ can appear double. Clearly a Pre-Greek word, in -aly-: Beekes, FS Kortlandt.
